This helmet is not a professionals’ welding helmet. It also does not come with the professionals price tag. I purchased this helmet as an upgrade to the one that came with my little lincoln wire feed welder. The bad: the material of the helmet is a little thin and flexes quite a bit, though i’m not certain this is a bad thing. Then setting up the helmet, there’s lots of pieces that have to be lined up on the two pivot bolts and need to be held in place while trying to tighten the pivot bolts. Having 3-4 hands would have been helpful, i made do with just two and it took me about 20 minutes to get all the adjustments set where i wanted them. The good: nice big picture window in front of my face.
First thing: i’m far from a professional welder. Well, considering i’ve never been paid for a welding job, that pretty much guarantees i’m not a professional welder, but i like to pretend i am. I’ve got a small 140 amp lincoln mig welder that i mess around with in the garage and lately the auto darkening helmet i purchased from harbor freight years ago had started to go on the fritz. It would darken way more than it should to the point of where i could hardly see anything and messing with the dials didn’t help any. Although i like to pretend i’m a welder, i didn’t want to pretend so much that it meant i had to buy a $400 helmet from miller with sharks and naked women spray painted on the sides. After searching what amazon had to offer, i decided on this unit. I like the fact that it has a large viewing area (my old one had a viewing area the size of a matchbook). It’s lightweight, and feels good on my head. It’s got adjustments for darkness, delay, and sensitivity and they all seem to work just fine. Since receiving the helmet, i’ve spent about 3 hours welding with it and it’s a huge improvement over my old one.
Good quality and big display. It has adjustable shades 9 – 13. Use setting 9 to i can see everything while i am welding.
Just my order just a moment ago and it didn’t come with the adjustable headstrap. After a few days they send me a new and complete welding mask with all the part. Thanks for a good costumer service.
The helmet works great, the directions are the best but its easily figured out. Be careful as the helmet is in grinding mode upon delivery so make sure to flip it to welding before you start welding. Its very light and offers a huge viewport which can’t be beaten for the price.
I have the lincoln $130 mask, and i got this one just for backup, as i couldn’t believe a mask for that price would be nearly as good as the lincoln one. I find this quickly turned to be my go to mask. It has better vision when it’s in its dark mode.
Solid hood for the money, i’ve been welding and fabricating for 33 years professionally and it’s a comfortable hood that has give me zero issues it is not the lightest hood on the market but it’s not that heavy if you’re not having neck problems i don’t see it as an issue.

“For the hobbyist, great helmet at a great price
, Great welding hood for a fair price
, Nice helmet
I was concerned about the claims being made by this welding hood when i first looked at it for the price of $75-$80 range. I wanted something that would protect my eyes without breaking the bank. I wanted all the features this helmet claimed to have with the price tag it had as well. Fit and finish – feels solid but pliable. Good for if/when i drop the helmet on the concrete floor. Make sure to take off the green tinted inside and outside film off of the lens when you get it, this requires you to take out the lens unit itself. Paint and design are all in line and look nice. Simple design design but i like minimalistic. Helmet was easy to put together. Others on here have complained about breaking the plastic pieces to fit the headgear onto the helmet.
So this is a very nice lightweight welding helmet. I’ve been using it for mig welding and it has worked great. The lens is large and gives you a very nice field of view. I am just a hobby welder and not a professionali, so i have very limited experience with auto darkening of welding helmets. But for my use i am very pleased with this one. It came disassembled, but that was an easy task without even looking at the directions. Fit is very good, it is easy to adjust and comfortable. It also came with a nylon storage bag to keep it clean and scratch free and and extra lens protector. I have not done any actual testing of the helmet for uv transmission, so i can’t comment on that. I do like it and would recommend it for an inexpensive alternative to the professsional versions for the hobbyist.
This welding helmet is awesome. . It’s not for beginners why?. Because you have to set the sensitivity and respons time. If you dont know how to set it you will be blinded. I use a cigarette lighter to flick it in front of my mask.
I do not have any experience with any other welding helmets, but this helmet does everything i would like it to do. I really like that you can adjust the shade, response, and delay. It is much easier to use than the perminatly dark helmets. I’m sure the $300 helmets are better, but this does exactly what i need. It is also really nice that it comes with a carrying bag, so it is easy to take to and from my welding class. I would (and have) highly recommend this helmet. The only thing that i have found unfortunate, is that the adjustment knobs are right at chin level. So if i put the helmet down too fast, i get an adjustment knob in the chin, and it will hurt for the next couple minutes. It is possible that i could spend a little more time adjusting it though, so it wouldn’t do that, but i have just been gentle while putting it down.
May not be the best quality welding helmet – but more than good enough for a hobbyist. The controls work exactly as described, and the auto-darkening response is perfectstriking off is simple and quick. Wish the shade were a little lighter when off, but i can’t have everything, at least not for a lot more money. Makes welding fun again after having used a flip-down helmet for a while.
For the price its a great welding hood. One of the switch slides fell off of mine but it was for a setting i didnt use and could still change the setting in using a ink pen. I only use this for farm related welding jobs.
Awesome item very light and comeforble had add a leather bib for added protection. Still light with the leather added i’m very happy with the welding helmet and the shipping speed was fast 3 day’s the max.
The large viewing area exceeded my expectations. Comfortable headgear and easily adjustable shade and duration. This is a fine addition to my stable of welding hoods. Would recommend for the beginner and professional welders alike.
Did not get to use it for weeks went to try it wont turn on passed time to return it ‘screwed’ (they sent me a new one it works vary good comfy i like it.
My son is taking a few welding classes as part of his automotive program. He said this works great and is comfortable. I don’t know if its a good professional one, but certainly good for home use and the few classes he’s taking.
I’m getting back at welding last time i did it i was 12 years old and remember getting burned by the bright light, i didn’t want it to get a old school helmet so i did some research and found this one and i’m glad i did. The respond from the sensors is fast i have use it 5 days now 1 to 2 hours per day and it is doing its job fantastic.
Just wrote it on the wrong helment. This is the one i have and love it. Best one out of about 6 i have used.
