I have been running these filters on my 1997 jeep grand cherokee 4. 0 i6 for 2 and a half years with synthetic blend oil and i am very satisfied with the longevity of these filters. I can’t believe how long my oil stays clean.000 miles on this engine and i don’t see it dying anytime soon.
Saw several videos comparing interior of these to other filter brands, will use wix filters for all my engines.
Works well and been using fram for 40 years on over 25 vehicles. Used this brand literally 1000’s of times. You will see pointless videos about the construction of these filters which means nothing. People ‘hear’ of horror stories and repeat them as parrots on the forums. Go to a good jeep forum and you will see one of their gurus went to the fram factory who dispelled every mythbut what you want but don’t believe everything you read and hear.
I have bought a couplenof these for my girlfriends car and i will continue to buy this filter. It works well and the installation is so convenient. Even if you have oilly hands, you can still take off and put on the old and new filter with ease. Plus the price is super reasonable. I would recommend these filters to anyone anyday. Most convenient filter i have used so far and i have changed alot of oil.
The best oil filter you can purchase. It keeps dirt inside of the filter, filters very well, and has an anti drainback valve.
Maximum protection and always a perfect fit.
For daily driver vehicles i’ve not had a better bang for buck oil filter. On my high performance vehicles i do go a different avenue. Otherwise fram is what i roll with.

Comments from buyers
, Cheaper than auto stores that sell muffler bearings
, The grip texture makes filter changing very easy.
How does one even review an oil filter??. Can anyone even prove they work or have a purpose. You may use a filter on your water. If clean oil is put in shouldn’t a filter keep oil clean and similar color to original. Have always said these should be termed screens or sieves. They don’t actually ‘clean’ the oil. If they did wouldn’t oil last longer??.Good for catching magic grit.
Has cardboard end caps that contain the particulate matter as well as the more expensive filters. If particle smaller than 10 microns it is not likely to damage anything.
Class tried and true oil filter for a 97 xj jeep cherokee. Use this every 6 months religiously with mobil 1 hm and have had zero issues. Don’t be fooled by expensive filters.
Good quality for a fram, the only fram i would buy (i normally run wix or k&n) since this one has metal end caps on the filter media unlike the other fram with cardboard.
I’ve been using this fram filter for years in my 2003 5.
Filtered the oil, spun on like its supposed to. If anyone complains about fram and valves, it only shows their ignorance, or their ability to read old internet stories that have sine been updated and fixed.
Installed just as easy as any other filter – do like the grip texture and never use wrenches anymore. Way too many people over tighten them. Tight with one hand, extra 1/4 turn with both hands and never had a leak. First time user of the ultra for synthetics, but i will put ‘er through the paces.
It’s a good filter at a great price. I’m a big fan of frams air filters and as far as i can tell this is a quality oil filter, did some research online and it has good reviews.
I buy these thru the subscribe and save program and get additional discounts thru that program. I have this filter and 6 quarts of oil delivered every three months and it reminds me to change my oil.
The textured grip is nice if you lack a tool.
I am an engineer in the aerospace industry and do a lot of research on products before i use them on my personal vehicles. Based on my research, i think these are excellent filters at a price point that makes them an exceptional value. In all the reviews i’ve read where these filters were run and then disassembled they held up fine. All the used oil analysis reports i’ve seen from people running these filters looked fine as well. In all honesty i’m not sure i’d be completely comfortable with the basic fram oil filter, but the ultra and the tough guard models are among the top performing filters out there based on everything i’ve read and my own experience. Everyone has their favorites and usually at least one or two ‘it saved the day’ or horror stories to back-up their choice. Personally i’ve only had a few oil filter related failures over the last 50 years and none were so catastrophic that i even came close to losing an engine. The problems were usually leaks that showed up quickly and i’ve seen something along those lines with literally every brand out there. If you’re looking for a well made product at good price that willl allow you sleep better at night while running (reasonable) extended oil change intervals, you’ll be hard pressed to do better than these filters in my opinion.
